INSTRUCTORS

The instructors hold a coaching qualification, are insured, and hold a first aid certificate. The coaching qualification has to be revalidated annually to remain current. They have also been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and all have current disclosure certificates. These requirements comply with the rules to be a national governing body qualified instructor.  

Dave Wright 3rd Dan – Level 3 Coach

Dave is a former Sussex & National Masters champion with 30 years experience of competing and teaching Judo. He has also been a County Squad Instructor for the last 7 years.

Chris Marchant  1st Dan BJA/BJC – Level 2 Coach

Chris has been training in Judo for 19 years. He competed in the World Masters Kata championship in 2002 and in 2010 was awarded a black belt in Jujitsu (British Jujitsu Ryu). He also is a qualified self defence instructor (Self Defence Federation).

Erin Southam BA (Hons) 1st Dan  - BJA Level 1 Coach & BJC Level 2 Coach.

Erin holds the grade of 1st Dan in both the BJA and BJC.  She has been practising judo for 20 years, and has won Sussex Championships many times at both junior and senior level.  With her degree in PE & Sports, she is also a qualified coach in other sports.
