At the Rising Sun we believe in leading from the front. Our instructors attend courses to learn the latest techniques and methods of coaching, and we demonstrate both technical and working judo.

As well as the instructors having contest experience, each of them holds at least one coaching qualification, is insured, and holds a first aid certificate. They have also been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and have current disclosure certificates.

Dave Wright - Senior Club Coach

Dave is a former Sussex & National champion with over 25 years experience of competing and teaching Judo and holds a 2nd Dan grade. He is also team coach for the Sussex County Squad.

Chris Marchant - Club Coach

Chris has been training in Judo for 14 years  and  holds a 1st Dan grade. He competed in the World Masters Kata championship in 2002. More recently he has been involved in the BJA's "Enjoy Judo" campaign aimed at taking Judo into local schools across Sussex. He also is a qualified self defence instructor (Self Defence Federation)
